about

Based in Essex in the UK I am interested far more in style than in subject. I don't believe in restricting myself to photos of certain things and not others. In the past I've focused on strong lines and shapes, more of a graphic style but lately I have concentrated more on tone and shade.

Originally a film photographer I cut my teeth in my own makeshift darkroom and though I still dabble I am mainly digital now. I use a lot of unusual lenses and modifiers and try to do as much in camera as I can before getting the image in to photoshop.

You can see a lot more of my photography on Flickr and find out more about me on my blog. To contact me please visit my 'contact me' page.

The technical stuff - I have a set on Flickr called 'My Favourites'. This set is loaded by some PHP as a serialized array, which is then reversed to show the newest photos first. The thumbnails are then displayed with some Javascript to scroll them back and forth. Finally a little bit of AJAX loads the large version of the image from Flickr's servers when a thumbnail is clicked. At no point does the page 'refresh', it's all DOM manipulation. Whenever I add a new photo to the set, it shows up on the site.
